Biography

Samad Naamad is a Moroccan-born visual and culinary artist whose pedigree swirls together expertise in design, production, and performance. In Boston, however, Naamad is best known for creating one of the region’s most unique and acclaimed dining and night spots – Tangierino, and its adjacent upscale shisha and cigar lounge, Koullshi. The businesses are a reflection of Samad Naamad’s
bold and unwincing style and his innate ability to share a love of culture in order to create memorable sensory experiences. With a life-long affinity for American film and a deep desire to challenge his artistic aspirations, Naamad left Morocco in 1988 and traveled west to the U.S. in search of life lessons that would both fuel and enrich his dreams. Receiving a degree in Finance from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and sharpening a business background at Morgan Stanley, he left a predictable and well-trodden path to pursue interior design and visual artistry. As a natural progression, he drew an arc around the things closest to his soul: Art, culture, food, design and business and opened Tangierino in 2000. Persevering through unthinkable obstacles, Namaad’s business sits among Boston’s nightlife elite. Since 2005, Naamad has been hard at work again charting new challenges and cultivating his passion for film production, direction and acting.

In 2005, Naamad both produced and acted his first independent film, “Welcome to Hollywood” which was released internationally to small audiences and independent festivals. The film would serve as a catalyst for Naamad’s first directorial effort, “The Demon Shadow”, which he acted, directed and produced under his newly formed production company, IRW (Imagination Rules the World).

Namad also owns Samad Naamad Entertainment and resides in Charlestown, MA.
